The Pittsburgh Penguins have voted Sidney Crosby their team Most Valuable Player for the season for the 10th time in his career. That number is second only to Mario Lemieux’s 12 for the most in team history. The Penguins players also voted their team captain the recipient of the Players Player Award, which goes to the athlete who “exemplifies leadership on and off the ice, and who is dedicated to teamwork. It is the fourth time Crosby has been honored with that selection.
The Penguins will host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at PPG Paints Arena. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:30pm. It is the Penguins final regular season game. A win will lock up third place in the Metropolitan Division and send the Penguins to New York to open the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Rangers next week.
The Washington Capitals remain one point behind the Penguins after they lost to the New York Islanders 5-1 last night. The Caps face the Rangers to close their season tonight.
