The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Chicago Cubs 2-0 last night at Wrigley Field. The Cubs scored both runs in the seventh inning after an Erik Gonzalez error. Pirate starter Joe Musgrove allowed just three hits, but took the loss after leaving the game in the seventh. Adam Frazier had two of the Pirates five hits. Starling Marte had a double. The Pirates struck out 14 times in the game.
The Bucs have moved on to Washington, where they open a three-game series with the Nationals tonight. First pitch is 7:05pm. Trevor Williams will start for the Pirates.
The Pirates and Nationals play Saturday at 4:05pm. WISR pre-game is 3:40pm. First pitch Sunday is 1:35pm.
The Pirates have placed infielder Kevin Newman on the 10-day disabled list after he suffered a cut finger Wednesday. Newman was helping hitting coaches Rick Eckstein and Jacob Cruz set up a pitching machine when the accident occurred. The Bucs have called up Kevin Kramer from Indianapolis to take his spot.
