The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 Sunday afternoon at Wrigley Field. The Cubs scored the game-winning run in the eighth inning off reliever Isaac Mattson.
The Pirates opened the eighth inning with a Jack Suwinski double, but left him stranded at third base.
Carmen Mlodzinski started the game for the Pirates, and allowed one run on four hits over four innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out three.
The Pirates outhit the Cubs 9-6, but left 10 men on base during the game, going 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
The Cubs won the series after defeating the Bucs 3-1 Saturday. The Pirates won the opening game of the series 3-2 Friday afternoon.
The Pirates have returned home to begin a six-game home-stand tonight with the first of three games against the Toronto Blue Jays. Paul Skenes will start tonight. First pitch is 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm.
The Colorado Rockies come in for three games this weekend after the Pirates have an off-day Thursday.
