Andrew McCutchen had two hits in the Wednesday loss to the Padres. He hit his 14th home run of the season, becoming the seventh Pirate all-time to reach 800 runs batted in. McCutchen ended the game with three RBI’s to tie Ralph Kiner for sixth-most in team history. His next extra-base hit will allow Cutch to join Willie Stargell, Honus Wagner, Paul Waner and Roberto Clemente as the only Pirates players to have at least 600.
Reliever Aroldis Chapman was clocked at 104.7 and 105.1 miles per hour on two pitches he threw in the eighth inning. They were the two hardest thrown pitches by a Pirates player since tracking began in 2008. Chapman pitched a scoreless inning, striking out three.
