Lifelong resident Bob Dandoy has been elected to serve as the next mayor of Butler.
Dandoy managed to finish ahead of Republican Fred Reese, ending with nearly 45 percent of the vote (888 votes) to Reese’s nearly 40 percent (793 votes).
Former Butler Mayor Tom Donaldson ran for election as an independent candidate on Tuesday’s ballot and received 314 votes or nearly 16%. A total of 1,997 votes were cast in the mayor race this year compared to 2,132 in the last mayor race four years ago.
Current City Mayor Ben Smith chose not to run for re-election and will complete his four year term in January.
All results are unofficial until certified by the Butler County Election Board.
