Both parties now have their official candidates for the upcoming special election in the 60th legislative district.
Local Democrats have chosen a familiar name as their candidate as Buffalo Township resident Frank C. Prazenica Jr will run for the seat that formerly belonged to Republican Representative Jeff Pyle who stepped down as a result of health issues.
Prazenica spent time as the Superintendent of South Butler County School District as recently as 2017 and is also currently a school board director in the Freeport Area School District.
Republicans have nominated Abby Major of Ford City. The 36-year-old has been a legislative aide to Rep. Pyle and is also an Iraq War veteran.
This election will take place the same day as Pennsylvania’s primary election which is May 18th.
