All digital currency transfers will now fall under the same regulations as traditional money transmissions.
This means cryptocurrency will need to meet licensure requirements.
The bill passed through both the house and senate with bipartisan support only receiving two no votes in the house.
The bill was signed by the governor on Friday and will become state law in 60 days.
