A dispute has arisen between a local baseball association and the East Butler Borough resulting in the gates being locked to ballfields.
The borough and East Butler Baseball Association have been at odds over the use of the baseball fields that sit atop Tenth Street.
The borough’s solicitor, Tom Smith, told our newsroom that council recently terminated the field agreement with the association. Smith says the association has been “totally unreasonable” during the negotiations over the field.
According to county records, the field is owned by the East Butler Borough—which recently added turf to the mound and plate at Speed-o Field.
East Butler Baseball said in a Facebook post that they are planning on having practices and games this fall, although its not known where that will take place.
