According to the state’s Department of Health, nearly half of the county’s COVID deaths have happened to residents of long term care facilities.
Deaths in those facilities account for 61 of the county’s 132 COVID deaths.
Additional data from the DOH shows that there have been 754 total cases among residents in Butler County—meaning that eight percent of those who contracted the coronavirus inside these facilities have died.
That percentage is even larger on a statewide level, as 7,532 residents have died from COVID-19. Which means about 16 percent of coronavirus cases among residents resulted in a patient dying.
