The Butler Township Planning Commission will wait until next month before issuing a recommendation about a proposed car dealership.
After hearing from a representative for the developer of a new #1 Cochran Automotive on Evans City Road, the commission tabled their decision until the February meeting.
This proposal is for the approximately 18 acre former Deshon Woods property between the Memorial Park Cemetery and the Army Reserve. The development would include a 30,000 square foot Ford Dealership relocated from downtown Butler as well as a 26,000 square foot collision center. Construction could begin as soon as this summer.
The site had all the trees cleared and ground prepared for the construction of a new VA facility but then sat empty and overgrown for years. A small group of local businessmen bought the property for $1.2 million at a sheriff’s sale in 2016. Last April, a subdivision carved off a portion of the property being leased by the Army Reserve.
