The driver of a dump truck that was involved in a fatal crash on Route 8 in Gibsonia is now facing homicide charges.
Our news partners at WPXI report that 32-year-old Frank Simon was charged with vehicular homicide when his dump truck collided with multiple vehicles on Route 8 in August 2023.
Charging documents say Simon was on his phone for a nearly 50-minute Facetime call while driving. During that time, he was going 10 to 15 miles per hour over the speed limit.
Simon’s vehicle then hit an SUV and caused a chain reaction crash that killed 53-year-old Cinnamon Gilch of Gibsonia.
Police also say that Simon’s dump truck had numerous pre-existing violations including brake issues.
