A statewide initiative to help cut down on the use of illegal prescription drugs has reached a milestone.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro says the drug take back program has collected more than 200 tons of prescription medicine over the last four years.
“That’s 200 tons that are no longer sitting in the bottom of medicines cabinets or being pushed on the street corners across Pennsylvania,” Shapiro said. “200 tons importantly out of the reach of children in this Commonwealth.”
Shapiro also said that with the ongoing opioid crisis, he believes this program continues to help prevent prescription drugs from getting into the wrong hands.
