The Duquense men’s basketball team defeated BYU 71-67 in the First Round of the NCAA tournament Thursday. It was their first victory in the tournament 1969. The Dukes will meet Illinois Saturday in the Second Round.
Games that were played at PPG Paints Arena Thursday:
–#14 seed Oakland upset #3 seed Kentucky 80-76. Oakland will meet North Carolina State in the Second Round after NC State, a #11 seed upset #6 seed Texas Tech 80-67 in the late game in Pittsburgh last night.
–#11 seed Oregon ousted #6 seed South Carolina 87-73.
–#3 seed Creighton defeated #14 seeded Akron 77-60.
The action at PPG Paints Arena will resume Saturday.
