Friday marks two weeks since the first stay-at-home order was issued for Butler County, but the top medical officer at Butler Health System says data is showing signs that the policy is paying off.
Dr. David Rottinghaus is the Chief Medical Officer for the Butler Health System.
“I think we’re going to benefit from early intervention and early mitigation. Social distancing and all the other measures that have taken place, as difficult as they might be, I think we’re not seeing a rapid increase in the number of cases in our region because of those measures,” Rottinghaus said.
However, Rottinghaus also says now is not the time to let up on social distancing.
“People should be encouraged by the data, by not reassured that we’re through the worst or that we’re out of the woods,” Rottinghaus said. “I think the next several weeks will be very telling as to what happens in our region, but I certainly would encourage people to stay the path.”
Butler Radio Network’s Tracey Morgan talked with Dr. Rottinghaus on Thursday, you can hear the full interview below.
