For the fourth consecutive Butler County Commissioner meeting, the 2020 election took center stage. However, this time it was on the agenda.
Fred Hensel of Connoquenessing alleged that the county’s machines were possibly hacked and requested that they eliminate all electronic polling equipment. A back-and-forth with Commissioner Leslie Osche ensued with her trying to provide insight on the Election Day process.
The county’s Election Director Aaron Sheasley then provided a detailed description of what happens to ballots after they are scanned at the poll site.
Sheasley also added that he feels his department is better prepared for the upcoming election, including having a larger staff.
The county commissioners meanwhile all said that they trusted the electronic voting machines and that they would refer Hensel’s request to the election commission members that helped craft their election review earlier this year.
Next week on WISR’s Extended News at Noon, we will be interviewing Sheasley about this and more.
