It will soon be more convenient for travelers in Butler County to charge electric vehicles.
The PA Department of Environmental Protection recently awarded two FAST Corridor Infrastructure Grants to American Natural to help pay for the instillation of fast chargers at two sites in Mars.
The first grant of just over $100,000 will cover half of the cost to install an electric charger at the American Natural Station on Sheraton Drive while the second grant of just under $100,000 will pay for 50 percent of a new electric charger at the Scharberry Lane American Natural station.
Each station will have two plugs with at least one of those being a fast-charging plug. The DEP and PennDOT have designated Interstate 79 and the Turnpike as EV-charging corridors which means that there are fast charging stations every 50 miles located within five miles of the highway.
