The public is welcome to attend an event about fireflies later this week at a local park.
Moraine State Park staff will present a program about lightning bugs tomorrow (Thursday) night from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at Pavilion 1 in the Pleasant Valley Loop of the South Shore.
The unique lives of these interesting creatures will be explored and presenters will also discuss how everyone can help scientists by observing fireflies at home.
Kids and families will be able to construct a firefly craft together to take home as well as search for lighting bugs outside.
