An event Wednesday will celebrate the origins of the Hare Krishna movement, that got its start in Butler.
It was 60 years ago when a man named Prabhupada came to Butler and began talking about the teachings of what would later become the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
Members of the society will celebrate the anniversary tomorrow starting at 11 a.m. at the Cubs Hall. The event will then move to the Grand Ballroom for a meal and discussion about the Hare Krishna movement at 2 p.m.
Both events are open to the public.
