Local wildlife managers are asking for community cooperation in preserving native species from dangerous threats.
Last month a regular visitor to Glade Run Lake in southern Butler County noticed a strange dead fish which was later identified by a biologist as a “Pacu” which is an omnivorous relative of the piranha.
This fish cannot survive in cold weather so it will not take over the lake but someone had to intentionally dump it there. Exotic pet fish like this one and others can cause a large amount of damage to the quality of fishing and the overall ecology of the area.
For more information about this valuable local resource and the impact of invasive species, visit the website of the Glade Run Lake Conservancy.
