The family members of a Butler native currently in a Russian prison are asking for friends and family to send him Christmas cards.
According to our news partners at WPXI-TV, family of 62-year-old teacher Marc Fogel believe the cards will let him and the U.S. State Department know that he hasn’t been forgotten.
Fogel began serving a 14 year sentence in a hard labor camp in August 2021, after he was found carrying a half-ounce of doctor prescribed medicinal marijuana for chronic back pain.
Those who would like to send a card are asked to not put Marc’s name on the outside of the envelope and instead send to the address of:
American Citizen Services / MHF
Consular Services
5430 Moscow Place
Department of State
Washington, DC 20521-5430
Christmas card senders are also asked not to send anything questionable such as escape plans, war news, or anything about illegal activity.
