The family of a man who died after being hit by a drunk driver who was behind the wheel of a U-Haul is now suing the company.
The fatal crash happened last December at the intersection of Route 19 and Ehrman Road in Cranberry Township when B.J. Forsythe died after he was hit by Darren Martin, who was driving the U-Haul.
The family is now suing U-Haul, arguing that Martin should have never been allowed to rent the vehicle because he already had two DUI convictions prior to this accident.
Martin has pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle while under the influence.
The family’s attorney told our news partners at WPXI that U-Haul should have policies and procedures before they hand someone a vehicle.
Martin is still in prison awaiting sentencing.
