The family of the women who died in a house fire last week are extending their thanks to the community for their support.
Lisa Whitfield is the daughter of Christine Lamperski and niece of Sue Ann Norris, who died in a fire on Old Route 68 in Forward Township last Monday. She’s said the response of the community has been overwhelming.
“We are shocked and blown away by the support. But, these people are wonderful. I’m honestly not surprised,” Whitfield said. “It’s such a great comfort and I’m blessed to have all these awesome people in my life.”
Whitfield says she wants her mom to be remembered as a fighter and a caring individual.
“She loved us. She was a cancer survivor, but spent her whole life caring for others. She’s the most selfless person I’ve ever known,” Whitfield said.
She also appreciates the care of the first responders.
“The first responders were such good hearted people who want to help. Everyone was great and amazing through the whole thing,” Whitfield said.
A GoFundMe for the two sisters has raised over $17,000.
