Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Alan Faneca is a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the fourth time. Faneca joins 15 modern-era finalists. The 2019 Hall of Fame class will be elected February 2nd. Also making the list of finalists is Aliquippa native Ty Law for the third time. Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward did not make the cut after being a part of the 25-man semifinal list.
Penn State running back Miles Sanders has announced he will forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility and enter the NFL Draft. The Woodland Hills graduate rushed for 1,274 yards this season. He is the fifth Nittany Lion to announce plans to enter the draft early.
Long-time Upper St. Clair head football coach Jim Render has announced his retirement. The 76-year old Render ends his career with 406 victories and as the winningest coach win WPIAL history. His teams won five WPIAL titles and two state championships.
