Those looking for something active to do on New Year’s Day can take a hike on the Pleasant Valley Trail in Moraine State Park.
The event is appropriately-named the ‘First Day Hike’ and will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Hikers will meet with park staff at the Pleasant Valley Picnic Area on the South Shore. Participants can walk two miles on easy hiking terrain. Friendly dogs on a leash are welcome.
Those planning to attend should dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes or boots, and bring water and snacks. Reservations are required through the DCNR Calendar of Events website.
