Many students around the Butler County area will head back to class today to begin the first day of a new school year.
Classes are beginning for students in the districts of AC Valley, Karns City, Mars Area, Seneca Valley, and Slippery Rock.
Seneca Valley is the only district so far to mandate the wearing of masks at all times for students and employees while the county is in the “high” or “substantial” transmission categories. Other districts have recommended or encouraged mask wearing based on the advice of agencies like the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
All students who plan on using school transportation will be required to wear masks while on buses as a result of a federal mandate.
