With the recent warmer temperatures and rain, there is flooding concerns in areas of the county near waterways.
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch that runs through 1 p.m. today.
Neighborhoods are on alert as the ice melts on creeks and rivers. There have been some ice jams occurring along river banks.
The Connoquenessing Creek rose yesterday, but appears to be lowering as of this morning.
Meanwhile, the ice along the Slippery Rock Creek has also thawed this week. Officials are keeping an eye on possible flooding, and urge homeowners near the creek to remove any items by the creek.
Ice jams can lead to quickly rising water levels—which can lead to significant damage.
