A longtime leader in education in the Butler area has died.
Sister John Ann Mulhern passed away Friday at the age of 84.
She served as principal of Butler Catholic School for 20 years, before retiring in 2023.
Prior to her time at Butler Catholic, Sister John Ann was a teacher and principal at a number of other schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
She became a member of the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1966.
A viewing will be held Wednesday at the Visitation Chapel of the Kearns Spirituality Center on Babcock Boulevard. A funeral service will follow on Thursday at 3 p.m.
