A sentencing date has been set for a former Butler County pastor after he pled no challenge to charges held against him.
The former pastor of By His Grace Christian Ministry, 71-year-old Herman Rushing Jr. of Portersville, pled “nolo contendere” to three charges in three cases against him. He will be sentenced on June 16.
This means Rushing will accept the convictions but he will not plead guilty and not admit guilt. Rushing has pled to two counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and indecent assault without consent of others.
Rushing is accused of sexually assaulting a 10 and 15-year-old girl over a two-year period. He was also accused of sexually assaulting a member of his church.
According to documents acquired by the Butler Radio Network Newsroom, Rushing will receive three to 23 and a half months in prison but will be paroled at sentencing. He will then serve 48 months of his sentence on house arrest with electric monitoring.
Finally, for the rest of his life Rushing will also have to be a life time reporter to the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
This plea agreement still needs to be accepted by Judge Timothy McCune.
