Former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Zarley Zalapski has died at the age of 49. He was the fourth overall pick in the 1986 draft by the Pens and was named to the NHL all-rookie team in 1989. The Pens traded him to Hartford in the deal that brought Ron Francis, Ulf Samuelsson and Grant Jennings to the team.
The Pens have activated goaltender Matt Murray from injured reserve. He could return to the net Thursday in Las Vegas.
