According to a report in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Seneca Valley graduate Matt Vogt has earned a spot for the U.S. Open coming to Oakmont next week. He won a 36-hole qualifier for the Open in Walla Walla, Washington Monday by one stroke. Vogt, who used to be a caddie at Oakmont, shot 8-under par to win one of the two qualifying spots. He went from the Raiders to Butler University in Indianapolis to play collegiately. Vogt finished in the top five of the state tournament in York while a member of the Seneca Valley golf team in 2008.
