A former state senator who served parts of Butler County has died.
Mary Jo White passed away at her home in late February.
White was former public defender in Venango County and served in the private sector until her election to the state senate in 1995.
She served the 21st district for 16 years, before retiring in 2013. She also became the first woman eve elected to Republican leadership in the state.
White was 83.
