Freeport high school graduate Ben Lane, a freshman on the Slippery Rock team was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference special teams player of the week after he recovered three fumbled kick-offs in the win over Mercyhurst. It is believed that is a program record. All three fumble recoveries by Lane led to Slippery Rock touchdowns.
The Slippery Rock University football team remained ranked #10 in Division II this week after their 75-31 victory over Mercyhurst. All of the top-11 teams in the nation won their games last weekend.
