Taxes are going up in the Freeport School District, but by how much depends on where you live.
TribLive is reporting that the district’s school board voted to raise taxes by 3 percent in Butler County and 2.5 percent in Armstrong County.
Board members say that difference is a result of reassessment happening at different times in the counties.
According to those that voted in favor of the increase, a number of increased expenses for the district prompted the vote—which passed by a 5 to 4 margin.
