Over a million dollars in federal funding is set to come to the Freeport area to help with updates to their sewer system.
As part of the federal omnibus bill that passed Congress, $1.5 million will be set aside for upgrades to Freeport Borough’s wastewater treatment facility.
Officials say this will help minimize sewer contamination into the Buffalo Creek.
The overall project is expected to cost $17 million.
