The Pennsylvania Game Commission is reminding residents to leave young wildlife alone as the weather breaks.
Officials say while some baby animals might appear abandoned, their mothers are usually watching them from somewhere nearby.
The Game Commission says having contact with young wild animals can make them lose their natural fear of humans—which can make it challenging for them to exist in the wild.
It’s also illegal to take or possess wildlife from the wild; it can result in a fine up to $1,500.
