The Pennsylvania Game Commission has announced a new executive director.
Stephen Smith will be taking over for Byran Burhans who resigned after spending seven years in the position. Burhans is not accused of ethical violations but there were some questions about the appropriateness of some business relationships he had with several Game Commission employees resulting in supplemental income.
Smith has been serving as deputy executive director since February. Before that he was director of the Game Commission’s Bureau of Information and Education. Smith’s goals include a review by an independent third party of the Game Commission’s supplemental employment policies to clarity rules for employees and the public.
Smith is a native of Berks County and received his Bachelor degree in Political Science from West Chester University then followed that with a law degree from Penn State.
