Volunteers are need by the Game Commission to help with the Third Pennsylvania Bird Atlas in state history.
The purpose of the Atlas is to develop an understanding of the population and distribution of birds across Pennsylvania for conservation efforts.
Counters in the northern part of the state are in higher demand due to the lack of population but counters from all areas are welcomed.
Information discovered through the Atlas will help highlight areas of concern and of promise which will lead to wildlife management strategies.
There are both volunteer and paid positions but all who are interested in helping need to access the necessary information online.
