Gas prices continue to edge downward both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas prices report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, decreased by a dime to reach $4.20 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by 13 cents to reach $4.01. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.54, while the most expensive is in Uniontown at $4.35.
The average national gas price increased by eight cents over the past week to $3.87 which is 21 cents less than a month ago but 72 cents more than last year. Although gasoline demand decreased last week, the price of oil increased to nearly $74 a barrel due to uncertainty around the conflict in the Middle East.
