Gas prices are continuing slowly decrease ahead of the holiday travel season.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, decreased by a penny to reach $3.72 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by three cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.68. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.41, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.85.
The average national gas price dropped by six cents over the past week to reach $3.30. This is a quarter less than a month ago and 37 cents less than one year ago. Both demand for gas as well as the price of oil continues to drop due to reduced market concerns that conflict in the Middle East will escalate.
