Gas prices declined both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by four cents over the past week to reach $3.99 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole fell by three cents during that same time to arrive at $3.96. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.67, while the most expensive is $4.08 in Mercer.
The average national gas price fell by nine cents over the past week to settle at $3.79 due to lower oil prices as well as fewer motorists on the roads compared to last year. The drop in the cost of oil is connected to ongoing market concerns about the possibility of global recession.
