Gas prices have decreased slightly both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by two cents to reach $3.67 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also decreased by two cents over the same period of time to reach $3.62. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.43, while the most expensive is in Beaver at $3.72.
The average national gas price rose by a penny over the past week to hit $3.54 which is four cents less than a month ago and $1.14 less than one year ago.
Demand for gas increased slightly last week due to Independence Day travelers and the price of oil also ticked up due to market concerns about supply but market fears about a recession have capped gas price increases.
