Gas prices have decreased slightly locally while increasing slightly across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by two cents to reach $3.65 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by two cents over the same period of time to reach $3.64. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.52, while the most expensive is in Beaver at $3.71.
The average national gas price rose by two cents over the past week to hit $3.56 which is a penny less than a month ago and 97 cents less than one year ago.
Demand for gas dropped last week but the price of oil rose due to market optimism that no more interest rate hikes are planned.
