Gas prices decreased locally while increasing across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, dropped by a nickel to settle at $4.14 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by two cents to reach $4.19. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.92, while the most expensive is in Warren at $4.40.
The average national gas price is up by a penny over the past week to $4.12 which is 50 cents higher than last month and 94 cents more than a year ago. This is attributed to the ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran focused on the Strait of Hormuz. Gasoline demand decreased last week and the price of oil dropped to just over $94 a barrel.
