Gas prices remained mostly steady locally while dropping slightly across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, remained at $3.85 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by a penny to reach $3.84. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.76, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.92.
The average national gas price fell by six cents over the past week to reach $3.53. This is 13 cents less than a month ago and two cents less than one year ago. Demand for gas decreased slightly and the price of oil dropped a bit as well but a busy Atlantic Hurricane season could hit refineries along the Gulf Coast and in turn cause gas prices to increase.
