Gas prices have decreased slightly both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, dropped by a penny to reach $3.31 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by a nickel to sit at $3.24. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $2.91, while the most expensive is in Bradford at $3.38.
The average national gas price is up by a nickel over the past week to $2.99 but this is still 10 cents less than one year ago. Both gasoline demand as well as oil prices dropped over the last week but the recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and threats to shipping in the Persian Gulf region are important factors that could force oil prices to increase.
