Gas prices have increased slightly locally while decreasing slightly across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, rose by a penny to reach $3.93 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by two cents over the same period of time to reach $3.87. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.61, while the most expensive is in Mercer and Warren at $4.00.
The average national gas price rose by a penny over the past week to hit $3.86. This is 28 cents more than a month ago as well as four cents more than one year ago. Both demand for gas and the price of oil decreased but refineries in some southern and Midwestern states may curb production due to extreme heat and hurricane effects.
