With Independence Day a week away, gas prices continued to remain mostly stable both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, remained at $3.67 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by a penny over the same period of time to reach $3.64. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in DuBois at $3.43, while the most expensive is in Beaver at $3.73.
The average national gas price stayed even over the past week at $3.57 which is the same as a month ago and $1.32 less than one year ago.
While demand for gas increased, the price of oil decreased this week due to market concerns about the Federal Reserve resuming interest rate increases which could result in a recession.
