Gas prices have jumped up both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by a 13 cents over the past week to reach $3.88 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by 11 cents over the same period of time to reach $3.86. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle and Beaver at $3.78, while the most expensive is in Warren at $3.89.
The average national gas price rose by 16 cents over the past week to hit $3.75. Demand for gas increased slightly last week but is still lower than normal for this time of year. The reason for the increase in gas has been the cost of a barrel of oil has gone up $4 in the past few days.
