Gas prices have jumped both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week as crude oil prices climb as well.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, held increased to $3.24 per gallon which is four cents more than last week.
Prices across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by seven cents over the past week to also settle at $3.24. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $3.15 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.27 in Uniontown.
Even though the average national gas price only increased by a penny over the past week to $3.05, crude oil has jumped to the highest price in two and a half years. AAA expects decreasing demand and high refinery utilization to mostly stabilize gas prices until oil declines.
