Gas prices jumped once again both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, increased by 20 cents to reach $4.19 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also short up by 22 cents to sit at $4.17. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $4.04, while the most expensive is in Warren at $4.22.
The average national gas price is up by 12 cents over the past week to $4.11 as well as 80 cents higher than last month. This is attributed to the ongoing U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran along with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Gasoline demand decreased last week but the price of oil increased to over $112 a barrel.
